Can anyone recommend any gems in Rome. I'd like to stay in a B&B/apartment that's suitable for DH and I plus 2 under 10s. Thanks!

Do you definitely want to stay in Rome itself? We stayed I. A mobile home at a Eurocamp site, a bus then tram but only about 40 mins in total. Great for under 10s with pools and activities . Depend how long you're going for and what else you want to

Might be too big but we stayed in an apartment at a hotel, Relais de Clarisse in Trastevere. Not glamorous or luxurious but I thought it was very friendly, reasonable, clean and well located. They might also have a smaller apartment? Slightly odd in that you have to use the lift if you are on the first floor but it's great anyway.

We did this too, we stayed at camping Fabulous after seeing it recommended on here and loved it. Had a few days on the campsite and a few in Rome itself, perfect balance

@MadameJosephine yes that's where we were. The balance between sight seeing and relaxation was great. Restaurant was good on site too

@Mumista you will probably be able to get it cheaper not booking via Eurocamp - check out other providers or booking direct with the site. That said, when ours were younger we preferred to go with Eurocamp or Keycamp for the kids clubs but as they got older, thet didn't matter so much. Ours were teenagers when we went to Rome so don't know if the site itself offered kids activities

www.homeaway.co.uk/p6669384 We stayed here for a week a couple of years ago. It was marvelous. Not in the centre, but near the metro and the bus that went to the Vatican via the Coliseum and Piazza Navona. The owner was super lovely. He had a report the water might be cut off in the building one day and brought round 2 big blocks of ice cream from his favourite gelataria. As it's in a residencial area, there are lots of reasonable restaurants, shops and takeaways within 5 mins. Bakers across the road. We bought transport passes for the week.

We stayed at Vatican Relais Rome through booking.com. We stayed in the 2 bed suite and it was ideal with children. About 5 mins from the vatican.

Hi, to those of you who have been to Camping Fabulous can I ask a few questions please. We are looking at booking about 9 nights here early June 2020. We have 14, 13 and 9 year old...do you think campsite is good for teens? Our preference is not to hire a car. I have read that travelling into Rome is very manageable but not sure about Ostia or other day trips. Any comments or suggestions welcome please. Thank you.
