4 nights with DD 6yo. I'm starting to think south of the river? It seems there is more green areas there? Might be completely off mark!

We stayed in the Latin Quarter, just off Boulevard Saint-Germain, very close to the Jardin de Cluny and about 10 mins walk (nearer 20 with children!) from the Jardin de Luxembourg, which is stunning. Lovely area, v close to Notre Dame, lots of lovely places to eat and drink - Love it there!

There are a couple of reasonable hotels in the area, Best Western Jardin de Cluny is off the main road and so a bit quieter at night, I've stayed there a few times and they often have offers. We used to stay in the Hotel des Artes but it's become quite pricey - It's more in the centre of the bars and restaurants, but that may not be an attraction if you're staying with children!

Actually, when I went with DD when she was 9 and her cousin was 8, we got a great deal via Eurostar, stayed at the Hotel Normandy, which was a bit 'tired' but pretty much opposite the Louvre for a bargain price. There's a lovely green square called Saint Jacques nearby with a little playground, and the playground at Les Halles close by is pretty brilliant.

And of course you've got the tuileries on your doorstep (providing you can resist pleas to go on the funfair...) 😁

We stayed at a Novotel at Les Halles

Virtually next to a Metro Station, lots of roads with small restaurants and easy to walk to the Seine.

Decent rooms, fairly decent breakfast (caters for tourist so not just 2 slices of baguette and jam) and helpful staff.

We took a taxi from the station (arrived by Eurostar) but took the Metro for the way back.

We stayed at Cosy's Residence Cadet. Very near metro. Walkable from Eurostar station. Self catering facilities. Pleasant staff. There are bakers and supermarkets nearby. And some things are walkable to from there.

The Ibis in Masion Lafitte, a little out of Paris, but lovely and quiet and Green. A friend once described as a bit like Fulham.
