For a relaxed but interesting holiday with a teen. We like low key restaurants, cafes and bars (with Spanish flavour rather than Brit), nice beaches, interesting walks, some culture, things to see / do like volcanic activity / dolphins / cycling, rather than theme parks and nightlife.

I am veering towards Lanzarote, probably PLaya Blanca, which DS has enjoyed before. Is there enough to do in Fueterventura? And if so where best to base ourselves?

I'd go to Gran Canaria. If you avoid the main touristy bit Playa del Inglés there are some lovely places to visit. We hired a car and drove up into the centre of the island which was amazing. On a Sunday a lot of locals go up into the mountains and have a huge picnic/bbq and anyone is welcome! There are some great walks up there and a fantastic view over to Tenerife.

The sand dunes at Maspalomas are pretty spectacular if you like nice beaches.

It's often referred to as a mini continent because of the wide range of landscapes and climates.

Puerto de Mogán is a nice place to stay if you want somewhere not too touristy, although it is still aimed at tourists, but isn't full of nightclubs and pubs. It's a mini venice with small canals.
