I'm trying to arrange a holiday for everyone. 3 couples plus dad plus 5 children. (Mainly under 7).
The requirements are - second week of August (there are shifts so time off is hard to match) - not too hot ideally <30 unless a breeze - at least half board - kids club at the hotel - not a villa (we'd like to still be speaking when we get home) - something to see for one group with no kids - not too expensive (obviously)
The budget is probably £8k which seemed like loads but is falling short when I start looking at hotel reviews
We've rules out Spain. (Too hot. Too expensive) and had nearly settled on Crete but we've just been told that is too hot as well.
Currently looking at the canaries but is there anything there apart from the hotels?
We just got back from a week in Lanzarote and it was really nice. Weather was 23 and sunny all week. In summer its apparently 29 or so, but the Canaries are breezy. Not sure if its humid in summer or not.
There is plenty of stuff to do for a week if you hire a car. The roads were all in excellent condition and it only takes an hour to drive from one end of the island to the other. There is walking, cycling, a national park, some arty stuff, markets, towns, beaches, restaurants. Lots of accommodation options too. We stayed in the Sandos Papagayo in Playa Blanca, which was great. The Princesa Yaiza also gets good reviews.
