Can anyone recommend a cheap and cheerful hotel for a short break in Rome please?
I have no knowledge of the city so don't know which areas to look at for ease of transport links, restaurants etc.

Thanks!

We stayed at Hotel Milton Roma. It was very good for transport, Manzoni underground station was directly opposite the hotel. I can't remember what we paid for it but I remember thinking it was very reasonable. It's at a very busy road interesection, so you do get some traffic noise but apart from that it was great for a short stay in Rome.

Forgot to say, it was only about a 15 minute walk from the Colosseum.

We stayed here - couldn't recommend it more.

Essentially it's a B&B, owners could not be more helpful. Central location, great breakfast & roof terrace. Rooms small, but I didn't go to Rome to sit in a hotel smile

Thank you! Off to look at those hotels. Flights booked for next August.
