Anyone know anything about Pedometers?

Thinking of buying one for dh for his birthday. He does a lot of walking and cycling and I thought it might be useful for him to keep track of how many miles he's covered etc.

But there are so many of the bloody things around, I don't know which one to go for. I don't want to break the bank but I do want a reliable one that he'll actually use and not one that packs in after a month.

Any recommendations?

The experts are all on www's bootcamp thread in the style section - haven't got one, but the unanimous view appears to be that the Omron ones (which you can buy on Amazon) are the best!

I got mine for £15 at a camping store - think it was Black's. They have less expensive ones, but this one measures distance, calories burned, number of steps etc.

I've got Oregon Scientific. It measures how many steps take, how many calories burnt and how many miles covered. I'm happy with it (except this week, when my number of steps is FAR too low ).

peter just had a basic one from tesco after his LVAD op. was good for keeping track of how far he had walked i na day and kept the physios happy as well. you had to programme it to your stride length etc so it was pretty accurate. no idea whats happened to it though. am assumug he didnt need it after a while, and it didnt just pack up. he used it for about a year.

Why would the Mirror burn one?

I'm not bothered about it's ability to count calories, I just thought it would be useful to cover distances. It would need to be able to do this if he were walking or cycling. So which one is best for that?
