I'm mortified! Ds is 3.5.
We woke up early and thought we would make use of half an hour alone before the alarm went off/kids woke up. Right in the middle of the deed, dp turns his head and jumps off me. Ds is sitting on the bed next to us, crossed legged. It was like something out of a film, you know the just instantly appeared out of no where bits. Dp asks him what he is doing, ds calmly replies "just watching" Confused. He then gets off the bed, picks up my weights and says he wants to exercise as well.
Poor kid......poor me. I feel traumatised. We've scarred the poor kid for life. I hope we haven't done any lasting damage Blush

I think he is just about young enough to get away with this one.

Yeah, he seems to have already decided it was exercise in his head so I'd just brush over it and move on.

Was he already in the room? How did neither of you hear him coming in or feel him getting into the bed? Maybe put something that rattles on the inside of your door, or lock it or something, to prevent future incidents.

No, not in the room when we started. Usually he storms about the flat like an elephant so we didn't think about not hearing him, hell, normally it takes a brass band to wake that kid, it's the little one that is a light sleeper.

I think you're right about getting away with it. It's afternoon here and he hasn't mentioned it again. But I cringe every time I think about it and I've no one here that I can laugh it off with.

He wont mention it until his first week of primary or until you and he are in a crowd.

He'll bring it up next time you're at the inlaws

My DD (6) once called out to me in the night concerned about the noises she could hear. The 'noises' were me and DP at it.
I had to pretend I was having a bad dream. She asked me a couple of nights in a row if I'd had any more bad dreams, but nothing else since! Blush

get a lock for your door and put it up high so no more bursting in. you might have just got away with it this time but you wont next time.

if he does bring the incident up then in your shoes I would be honest (though realise I am probably in the minority here!) I would explain it in such a way that he could understand - as in its something mums and dads do to show how much they love each other but should be private so you shouldn't be walking in.

Just wait till your grown-up son walks in on you...

That's embarrassing.

Get some jingle bells and attach them to his bedroom door. High up so he can't reach to play with them, they'll act as a door alarm whenever his door moves even an inch Wink

It happened to us. DS2 was around 5-6 and burst in on us unexpectedly. We thought we had got away with it until we heard him say "I"ve seen three things mating now, foxes, jellyfish and mum and dad. The foxes were the best but mum and dad were better than the jellyfish".
DS is an adult now, seemingly unscarred. DH was relieved he had performed better than a gelatinous marine creature.

Happened to us this morning with my 7.5yr old. We were covered up and spoons-style so it may not have been totally obvious that it was anything more than a cuddle

She hasn't asked anything...yet.

Listen, in a few years time when you walk in on him masturbating you can call it quits!
