Hi all, I was wondering when is it ok to have sex after giving birth? I had my baby two weeks ago and I feel pretty good, the bleeding has mostly stopped. Do you have to wait until 6 weeks post birth for cervix too close or something like that?

We waited about 2 1/2 weeks. Bleeding had stopped. Birth had not been too bad. I had only had a very small tear, no stitches. I was out walking Ds every day and felt fit and well. DH had paternity leave. Ds was on formula so we were sharing feeding. We just got carried away one afternoon when we were all having a nap.
Use contraception if you do. Smile

My last birth was a doddle so it was 10 days but that felt like ages.

Thanks, does the bleeding have to be fully stopped?

For a normal vaginal delivery, 2 weeks is fine if you are up for it. :)

I thought tou were supposed to wait six weeks due to the increase in infection? I can't talk though, I fell pregnant when DS was four weeks old so be careful

Not anymore. That used to be the old advice. Current guidance is, If you are feeling well no stitches etc, then it's ok. You can get pregnant again as early as 21 days though.
