(Sob) I'm the unluckiest woman alive!

Been seeing a guy for a couple of months and it's going well. This weekend we actually get a rare day when we're both child free. We've been talking a lot in the week about what works for us sexually as we're just beginning that side of things; and he told me he was planning to spend all of tomorrow in bed, which I was more than agreeable with

So what do I get today? My period angry I know it doesn't rule out all sexual activity but it does limit what I'm comfortable with. I'm gutted!

blimey I wish I was that "unlucky"!

tumbletumble Sat 11-Jul-15 08:02:07

Feeling your pain OP. Last year DH and I had a rare child free night away in a hotel and my period arrived (early!) the day before. Gutted!

MyGastIsFlabbered Sat 11-Jul-15 08:02:30

It was tongue in cheek and I honestly hope people see it that way. I don't want pages of people telling me it could be much worse, please?

It's not the end of the world, it's only a matter of putting it off for a few days surely? Presumably he's not going to dump you for being unable to shag his brains out.

BBQsAreSooooOverrated Sat 11-Jul-15 08:04:04

It is a shame but you'll enjoy it even more next time you get the chance to get together?

MyGastIsFlabbered Sat 11-Jul-15 08:05:24

I'm not worried about him dumping me, just annoyed. No idea when we'll both be child free again.

grim I know but, are you comfortable with the idea down and using a condom?

me and dp did this once when he was home for a small window between deployments blush It's not that bad...

MurielWoods Sat 11-Jul-15 08:12:59

Typical isn't it?

In terms of child free time, how come it's so rare? Could he stay over at yours and you wait until children are asleep?

Good luck grin

penguinplease Sat 11-Jul-15 08:14:34

Do it anyway! Shame to miss out

Nevergoingtolearn Sat 11-Jul-15 09:10:09

I know the feeling sad, been OLD for a while, have been dating on and off, I always try and time my period so I have it Monday to Friday ( I'm on the pill ) but this month i didn't come on until wed, am bleeding very heavily so no chance of any fun this weekend. Think I'm going to spend tomorrow ( my child free day ) in bed sulking. Wish I could find something to stop my periods completely grin

Purpleball Sat 11-Jul-15 09:11:56

Mirena? Stops most people's. Too late for this cycle but worth a thought

HermioneWeasley Sat 11-Jul-15 09:13:33

Agre OP, very disappointing

Goodbetterbest Sat 11-Jul-15 09:52:25

Oh that's shit.

Agree with the Mirena coil. No periods.

gamerchick Sat 11-Jul-15 09:57:50

Ah a bit of crime scene sex didn't hurt anybody.

Have a bath and stick a towel down.

I do feel your pain.. That sort of shit happens when me and the husband have one night away for our anniversary or something. Sods
Law.

LegsForever Sat 11-Jul-15 10:03:05

Try these:

softcup.co.uk

I use these for period sex nowadays as I my flow is so much heavier than it used to be. Carnage is much reduced!

YonicScrewdriver Sat 11-Jul-15 10:05:17

Aww, that's annoying.

What's with all the Monty Pythonesque "you don't know how lucky you are" posts at the moment?

Rainicorn Sat 11-Jul-15 10:05:20

Crime scene sex grin

That is unlucky op.
Boots used to sell soft cups, which are like moon cups, but you could have sex when wearing them. Unsure where sells them now though. <helpful>

penguinplease Sat 11-Jul-15 11:21:41

Progesterone only pill means no periods too but less hassle than coil.
I've not had a period since October, it's lovely!

Minime85 Sat 11-Jul-15 12:47:37

This happened to me first time with my dp. Both too desperate to care in the end. We refer to it as the massacre. Was worth it though and he couldn't have cared less.

Think I'll look into the soft cup thing though to avoid future massacres smile

pocketsaviour Sat 11-Jul-15 14:26:09

I'm on depo provera (6 years now) and very rarely have any bleeding. Took one look at the description of coil insertion and my legs slammed shut so fast, Birmingham reported an earthquake tremor.

MsPepsi Sat 11-Jul-15 21:49:01

It probably sounds like a joke, but drinking alcohol stops the flow. It defiantly worked for me when I needed it to

velourvoyageur Sun 12-Jul-15 08:13:57

Oh OP ! I do feel your pain!
Couldn't you just explain it to him and if he's ok with it, put towels down?

But at least you're not like me - I completely forgot I was on and had sex with my mooncup in a couple of days ago - feel really bad I didn't mention it before we started.....(did apologise and they said it was fine)
By some miracle it didn't turn into a crime scene no, I only realised when I (tmi) saw a red condom on the floor blush

pombearsforbrunch Sun 12-Jul-15 09:24:52

Sex in the shower?

hoobygalooby Sun 12-Jul-15 11:30:28

Mirena cool does stop periods but it sent me crazy - wild mood swings, depression and the libido vanished altogether. I honestly thought I was losing my mind!
OP rotten luck - I feel for you confused
