DD is in Yr10 and began some of her coursework after the May half term in Yr9.

I think a lot of GCSEs are moving away from coursework this year, so there may be less for current year 10s than previous ones. Ds, now in year 11 did no coursework until the end of year 10 when he had a geography field trip to write up. So far in year 11 he's done an English essay & that's about it so far.

DS did his GCSEs this spring and definitely had some coursework in year 10 as I remember being shocked they were starting it so early

DS is a Yr 10 and has already completed a piece of English Lit written coursework and been assessed for one piece of "speaking & listening".

My DS is in Year 11 and he started coursework in Year 10. A lot of it has to be handed in by half-term, so they are pretty much finished it.

If the school is sensible, they will set small coursework tasks throughout Year 10 so that the students can pace themselves, and not end up having a panic at the final deadline.

A lot of coursework has disappeared, or has to be done in school time, under supervision. Your DS may already be doing this but not realise it as such - well, not enough to mention it to you.

so what subjects still have coursework? Science/Maths don't, English/Art/DT/Geography do - what about Languages/ICT/history/RE? It seems that if you choose the right subjects you might not get too much coursework.

I know ds's English teacher thought they'd get better marks doing their coursework later rather than earlier, (but they did do some speaking & listening early on, I wasn't sure that was exactly coursework though - more like science ISAs - they did 3 of those at the end of year 10 too).

I teach RE, there will be no coursework for the current year 10s (yipee) but my year 11s atarted at the end of year 10 and will be finished within a fortnight.
