And if so is it indoor or outdoor?

No. They are a 10 minute walk from the council pool but they don't use that either.

yes, outdoor

Yes, outdoor. They only use it from April to July. I do know they are trying to obtain funding to erect a poly-tunnel type cover so they could use it a bit more often.

Oh bugger, I missed the bit that said secondary

No, the secondary ds will attend next year does not have a pool.

Yes indoor. The council run leisure centre was built on part of the site of the school a few years ago. They are really fortunate as they are allowed to go swimming most lunch times and sometimes before school.

No but a lot of the secondaries in our area do have. Hence DD doesn't do swimming at school any more but she is a good swimmer anyway so I'm not too bothered (and think that it is probably less bothersome for girls if they don't have to deal with school swimming once they hit puberty anyway...)

Our junior school does, which is used by various organisations after school and on Saturdays.

DD's High School does not have a pool.

Yes. We're in a three-tier system and the primary, the secondary and the comp all have pools. The primary an outdoor, the comp an indoor and I'm not yet sure about the secondary, but I know it has one of some kind.

I meant middle rather than secondary - sorry I get confused having never had experience of a two-tier system.

No, none of the state schools in our town do (althoguh I think the girls grammar migh, but my DD is only 4, so I haven't checked)

Neither of the secondary schools my DCs attend have pools. The child that does swimming at school goes to the local leisure centre, as do primary pupils.

Yes outdoor, never used. Boys bused to indoor pool at connected girls' school but only for 6 weeks of summer term .

My old school doesn't (DP's sister still goes there so I know) and they don't do swimming at any council pools. I think it's quite unusual to do any swimming at secondary TBH - perhaps the period issue for the girls? I know I would have been anxious about that since I did not use tampons as a teenager.

I never learned to swim at school though and taught myself aged 18 when I left so it probably is a bad thing.

ds1 - private secondary - state of the art indoor pool

ds2 and dd - state primary - tiny (10m) indoor pool which is only used for KS1 children to do very basic water confidence. KS2 children go to local council pool once a week for half the year

Yes, indoor (State Grammar)

DD's Comp did not though.

No, most state schools don't around here. But they did have swimming lessons in primary.

Ha ha ha ha ha.

A French school with a swimming pool?! An assembly hall would be a fine thing...

No

My DCs' old primary didn't have a pool, but they used to be taken for lessons occasionally at the local leisure centre about 20 mins walk away.

My DCs' state comp does not have a pool either, but I don't think it's so important as most can swim by then. My old secondary had a pool where swimming was part of PE lessons, but most of the girls would say they had their period just to get out of it -it'd be the same now, I think.

No pools here in France, but DD1's first (state) primary school in the UK had an indoor pool - they all learnt to swim in Reception.

(But both my DCs schools have assembly halls, Anna).

I think school accommodation doesn't seem to be quite as restricted outside Paris/Ile-de-France.

They are currently pulling down the Lycée Carnot (which looked just like a prison) and we are waiting with bated breath to see what monstrosity architectural gem replaces it.

Yes, an indoor pool - boys' private secondary. Not a lovely pool though!
