Can anyone recommend a school uniform cardigan please?

What I mean is - if your secondary school has a good cardi - stretchy teenage fit, washes well, feels nice, not sweatshirt material - could you please have a look at the label and tell me who makes it?

I work in a school, and the Head wants to introduce a cardigan as uniform. We will be selling them in the school shop, and the local school outfitters.

I have looked at loads, but they are all the wrong shape, heavy & baggy to fit kids rather than H&M-style to fit teens. I can't go to eg. Tesco because they need to be embroidered with the school crest, or M&S (would be too expensive after the embroidery,) also they need to be available year after year not fashion/seasonal, so a proper uniform manufacturer.

Many thanks!

My DD's wearing it at the moment, so I can't look at the label, but she has a very nice sweater (rather than cardie): really nice fit, soft, deeply ribbed hem and cuffs, stretchy, not bulky. Haven't washed it yet. It's embroidered with school badge, available at school uniform shop. If you're interested, will have a look at the label later.

Bloomin' expensive though - £17.99 (state secondary, but optional as blazer compulsory).

Yes please, it sounds good & they might do a cardi. There's a company called Trutex who do a nice sweater but not a cardi. Unfortunately the school want a cardi!

We might be able to do it cheaper because we buy in bulk & don't add on much for profit.

Guess what - Trutex! Perhaps if you let them know there's a market for the cardie...

Fimbo, I've tried some like this, they are great for kinds but teens just aren't interested. But thanks anyway, I apreciate it.

Pyro - Trutex are rumoured to be bringing one out next year but they want it NOW!! But it's our best hope so far. It's good to know that you like it, but don't you think you might have to be careful when you wash it, because it seems fairly delicate? I ruined DH's new trousers the very first time I washed them because I tumble-dried them & they shrunk!

Yes, I shall treat it as 'delicate'. We shall have to see, but if I mess up, we have a couple of hand-me-downs of an older style which will have to do instead!
