Um big prayers actually for dsd.

She was predicted very good grads (a and A*) but got nowhere near that in her mocks.
Plus she seemed to spend most of her revision time on FB.....

Fingers crossed fo rher as she is a bright girl and wants ot be a vet.

Can't wait for tomorrow...the waiting misery grrrrr ..the results are late this year aren't they?? DD needs 6 B's and above to do the IB.

She fast-tracked for some of her GCSE's..she got an A for maths...and she has done the triple award for Science, the grades for all the modules were A's so it's looking good....but you just never know!!!! arrgghhhh

Good Luck to all the families who get their results tomorrow!!!

Littlerach, could have written your post myself my bright but very lazy DS. Good luck you all and your DCs.

Anyone know if the results are available online? DD has done science modules but as she is only finished yr 10 they have asked them to wait until school starts for their results, leave the going into school for the year 11's.

littlerach, your DD sounds the same as mine, bright girl who wants to be a doctor but hasn't put the work in and her mocks are well below prediction. She says her A levels are more important!!

Good luck to everyone.

I'm going into school tomorrow to get all teary with Yr11's! I'm ridiculously excited about it, but then, it's not my exams or my dd that's getting results! Ask me again in 3 years time!

ABOUTEVE - I know you can get them online, but whether or not you had to regisiter for it, is another question.

maureen, do you know if it's normal for year 10s to go in to collect theirs. DD has some reults due tomorrow, but seems reluctant to go in and collect them.

Have you told the school that you want results sent home? If not, I expect they will expect to see you there.

We havent applied for online. Have to collect a school sweatshirt, had the same one since yr 7 so I might ask for them.

Report
GrinnyPig · 26/08/2009 19:24

No, we haven't asked for them to be sent. DDs friend says their school never posts results out, but I don't know if that's true...

I think they just don't want to be the only year 10s that turn up.

They have as much right to be there as yr11's. Get there either at the very begining or the very end.

AboutEve, my DS had to wait til going back to school for the science modules in Yr 10 - not sure they are even sent to the school at the same time as GCSEs but don't know that for sure.

oooh yes, good luck everyone.

I'm hoping against hope the group I taught this year hit their targets - no second threshold payrise for me if they don't.

(& I know they won't - bottom set of 15 kids, including 4 chronic truants, had a useless cover for 6 months last year whilst I was on ML & had decided they all hated me AND my subject by the time I got back...)

Ah well. If the one nice-but-dim-but-incredibly-hardworking lad gets the C he richly deserves, I'll be happy!

abouteve apparently you need to register in advance to get them online. DS has registered for it but is not sure if it will work as apparently it didn't work last year.
Going in to collect not an option as his old school 3,000 miles away.
Thankfully he is not desperately waiting for the results as he did 3 GSCEs early at 13,14 & 15 and this summer did a mixture of IGCSEs and GCSEs and the IGCSE results came out over 2 weeks ago. He is only waiting for English Lit and Arabic and has already secured his place at college and the A levels of his choice.

Feel for all the rest of you, its an awful feeling having to wait. Good luck

I can hear DD2 pacing her room upstairs - she has hopefully done very well but has convinced herself that she has done terribly. We had A level results for DD1 last week and I don't think my nerves can stand much more of this. DH is snoring on the sofa but I think I need another very large glass of wine to send me to sleep

good luck for your DD2 webwiz. Wine sounds a very good idea

proud mum alert
just woke DS and got him to check his results online and he managed to get them.
He got a B in english Lit (real pain as the 'gradeometer' showed that he missed an A by what looks like one mark) and more importantly, he got a C for arabic. This might not sound brilliant but it was his second foreign language and he'd only been doing it two years and was pretty much teaching himself as the arabic teacher refused to teach him halfway through the course as he was the only 'non native' speaker in the class so for the past year he had been sitting in the library and studying on his own.
This brings his total now to 2 x A*, 6 x A, 2 x B and 1 C

good luck to everyone else still waiting

Oh, nice one! Congratulations to your DS! I'm off to school in a minute, to soak up the atmosphere! DD is coming with me, so she can get a feel of it too. She's going into Yr9, so she's got a few more weeks to wait!
