Anyone knows about the two schools - in terms of the student overall conduct, teachers' devotions, learning atmosphere, pastoral care and extracurricular activities. My younger son - aged 13. We are not looking for exceptional academic excellence but an all-round school which could prepare kids for life

Hi there I have a son at Kingham Hill School and know friends at D'Overbroeks - they couldn't be more different. Kingham Hill has quite a structured day and is very small and nurturing, offering lots of support and excellent pastoral care whereas D'Overbroeks is a much bigger place (at Sixth Form at least) and the children have much more freedom and less timetabled hours in Sixth Form. I think the Sixth Formers at Kingham can sometimes feel quite isolated but it suits many of them- they feel secure and nurtured. At D'Overbroeks on the other hand they have lots of freedom, probably more fun on a social level, and the teaching is excellent I hear. However if your child needs structure I'd go for Kingham Hill. If your child want a big social life go for D'Overbroeks. The subject choices are incredible at D'Overbroeks too.

Thank you for your response, Lottiecat1. How about the academic performance/ public exam results / university destinations for Kingham Hill, in case you have views on this area. And I don’t quite understand what is meant when talking about sixth form - isolated ? Do you mean it is a very small community? I read the ISI report - the teaching way and ICT have got rooms for improvements.
