Mock Exams Remote?

Hi, if your children have done/ are going to do mock exams during the lockdown and are therefore going to do these from home how are they doing them? Typing and submitting to Classroom or Teams or handwriting and scanning or something else? How are the schools ensuring they are valid i.e. no cheating? Thanks

Can I ask why? Are you bothered if a classmate does it incorrectly or concerned about your DC? Teachers would know anyway.

I am a teacher. There is very varied practice across schools and colleges, which is why I'm asking. Some centres have cancelled and not yet rescheduled mocks, others have done them typed, others about to do them handwritten and scanned.

I've done mocks (maths) online

We use Microsoft Forms. Questions copied from an old exam paper. We made about 40% of them ones that students had to take a pic of their working out / drawing and upload to that question box

Real mock would be an hour and a half. I allocated 15 extra minutes for uploads and 'newness'

Not perfect but pretty good. Of course they could cheat but setting a time limit helped as I don't think they'd be able to Google answers quickly enough

DS1 is in year 11. They did Mocks in November at school. They were then supposed to have further mocks after half term but these have just been cancelled.

He still has real exams happening in May/June since the school does iGCSEs which are still running

Mocks done at home. Papers posted out and sealed. Opened while being viewed on Teams. During exam students hands and papers in view the whole time on Teams. Paper then taken pictures of and uploaded immediately to a Teams assignment.
Worked quite well

@nostaples

OMG *@MostlyHappyMummy* how on earth did the poor teachers mark uploaded pictures?!

It's a nightmare if it's just random pics.

Easier if you set a teams assignment with upload options on each question. Then you can look at just that Q and allocate the marks accordingly

Takes ages to set up though

@nostaples with great difficulty!! I've got some to mark this week and I think I'll have to print them out rather than squint at a screen for hours on end

Our school has pushed mocks til after Easter break. A level and IB mocks will be when they go back (hopefully) March 8.
Now that the international cohort if iGCSEs have had their exams cancelled I imagine they will be here two in a couple weeks, but they need the mocks for assessments.
If anyone is inclined to cheat they will find a way (the teacher cannot see what is posted up behind the computer, for example).
