So, there is one school in my city that admits 12 on ability. We're not in a grammar area. Other schools in the city are okay but not sure that they always stretch the most able. DD is very bright. She decided she wanted to sit the entrance exam, despite the small chance. She has worked really hard this year and has been getting high 90% in all mock exams; 99% this week. She has hated being off school during lockdown, preparing for the exam has kept her going. Today (ironically while she was at tutoring) we found out that the school is not doing the entrance exam this year and there will be no academic entry, we don't qualify by any of the other criteria. She is gutted, we are gutted for her and so annoyed, the exam was 3 weeks away. Damn Covid.
