How much homework have your yr 7's (going in to yr 8) been set?

Just wondered how much homework your dc have been set for the summer holidays? dc has been set quite a lot - 8 subjects worth in total, most with multiple exercises. I have written a list of what has needed to be done (didn't want to overwhelm dc with the full amount, as even I find it overwhelming) and got dc to spend 5-10 mins at bedtime most evenings doing some (with the odd evening off). Even so, only 2 out of the 8 subjects have been completed so 6 left to do and I simply don't think we'll be able to get it all done by the end of the holidays. 2 of the heavier subjects would require a whole day each to get the tasks completed which feels like a big ask to me. None of dc's friends who are in other schools have been set any homework for over the summer holidays - other than suggesting they do some reading...

A couple of optional things but otherwise nothing. After all the stress of lockdown learning, my two are really benefiting from having a complete break from school work.

None - school day, quite rightly, that they need a full and proper break after the full schedule of lockdown learning.

nothing

None. It's a grammar school, and they do work them hard during term time, but have a policy of no work ever set over a holiday.

None, our high school doesn't set homework for weekends or holidays

Is your school trying to make up for lack of schooling during lock down?
My kids have had suggested summer reading, but never actual homework set over summer.

None here either. Are you at a private school? Did your child have a full time table under lockdown? Mine completed every lesson that would have been in their school day at home and after months of self motivated learning they need a few weeks completely off.

Comprehensive by the way.

Same as yours. Homework in every subject but it's not enforced and set in a 'Want something to do over the holidays'? Type of way.

My son doing GCSEs only got one piece set for English.

Thank for everyone's replies. To those that asked yes an independent school and yes followed full timetable in lockdown including end of year exams. New to private education sector so from everyone's replies I'm assuming that's why the difference.

Blimey, that's pretty full on! Independent school here too, so full lockdown timetable, but no holiday homework. No exams either (but they don't have end of Y7 exams anyway).

My son was at an academically selective private secondary school for a couple of years and they also never set homework over the holidays. I didn’t think it was that common in most schools? Especially over the summer.

None (private school - policy is that it doesn’t set holiday homework).

I haven't set mine anything. I teach maths and it's our policy not to set any homework over any holidays, other than for exam classes in the run up to their exams (ie from Feb half term in year 11).

The kids won't even have the same teachers next year will they? So it won't be marked by the teacher that set it?

read 2 books and write few paragraphs about them. This is a struggle to achieve coz DS doesn't like reading. Mind boggles at 8 subjects, etc.
