I am about ready to throw in the towel with work plus dc y7 has said she hates her school. So am thinking now might be the time to move house to try to get near a school she might like. Near a good primary for dc2 would be good. Open to any suggestions.

I think we need more info - state or private? Where roughly in the country? What's your housing budget? What do you do and could you do it in lots of places (teacher, nurse) or only some (PR, banker)?

State and preferably southeast and budget 500k and I could do my job most places but the most lucrative jobs would be in major cities. Thank you!

Ah ok, sorry no knowledge of south east. Not really many major cities there tho, apart from the obvious!

some areas in the southeast have a primary-middleschool-upperschool structure where the changeover is for year 9 instead of year 7 so maybe try those areas first? I think mostly Bedfordshire so look around there.

otherwise I don't think there's much hope of moving anywhere in the southeast and just being allocated a place at a great school when it's an "in year" application - all the places at the nicest schools will be already allocated.
