Hi. Do people know if IGCSE's will be treated the same as the other gsce exam boards?

My DD is convinced they are different and won't be.

Thanks

On the subject of IGCSEs, the government says, "We are making clear to all awarding organisations that no exams should go ahead in schools and colleges in England this year".

The three bodies that award IGCSEs (Cambridge International, Oxford AQA and Edexcel) say that they will go ahead in countries where schools are open and it is safe for students to sit exams as normal. Where it is not possible they say they will work with teachers to ensure students receive a fair grade.

Whilst they haven't specifically said anything about the UK, that sounds very much like they will be treated in the same way as GCSEs.

The Guardian seems to think IGCSEs will go ahead but they appear to be basing that on something one of the bodies said immediately after the government announcement that exams were cancelled.

So I can't be 100% certain but I think there will be no IGCSE exams in the UK this year and that grades will be awarded in a similar way to GCSEs.

@Ginandtonic4all are you in the U.K. or International? There are petitions on Twitter to get all iGCSE’s taken internationally graded in the same way as the U.K. it’s unbelievable that Cambridge International and Edexcel are pressing ahead with exams when so many countries have complete school closures. It will be far from a level playing field in the U.K. for many years to come if students Internationally have to sit exams whilst U.K. students don’t. Hoping that the cancellation of IB exams worldwide gives them the rocket up their arses that they need.

Not sure if you've seen updates but both Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSEs are now cancelled. I don't know about other boards but I imagine the same.

No official word yet on how they will award grades. Waiting game now.

I don't know about other boards but I imagine the same.

The only other board awarding IGCSEs is Oxford AQA. They have also cancelled the exams.
