Keep seeing jobs advertised - Head of English, now a Drama job going. The newish head seemed great at open days. I’m hoping all is well for the future. Anyone know anything?

My DS is in year 11 so we have been there over the head change. Yes there does seem to be a bit more movement of staff than the first couple of years but I don't think it is excessive. Afterall there will always be some movement with over 160 teaching/admin staff on their roll.

I personally have not seen it effect the quality of teaching at all

Thank you for replying. Good to hear. I don’t always think it’s a bad thing but did wonder If there was an underlying issue.

Would you consider Parmiters to be as good as Watford Girls or Boyr Grammar and Dr Challoner's Gs &Bs?

No knowledge of Challoner’s. Parmiters offers an excellent balance of academic, sport and extra curricular opportunities. My strong preference was mixed sex. I have heard mixed opinions about Watford Girls and generally positive about the boys school.

Depends what you're looking for… do you just mean academically or more holistically?

Challoner's schools have catchment areas so no point applying to them (or even sitting the 11+) if you're not living in the relevant catchment area.

Both academically and holistically.

Hi PETRONELLAS!

I have worked in schools and with schools. I have also been a parent at a secondary school. Most of the staff problems come from long established staff who are 'untouchable', staff the Head finds it impossible to move on. At the same time, promising younger staff often need to move to get on.

So I would actually prefer a school with a steady staff turnover, even if it seems too much at times. Fresh blood and younger staff are vital. (I say this as someone who is now 'old'! 😉)

Thanks so much. Now he’s there I completely agree and actually see many moves are for promotions. Thank you for replying.
