If a child has an offer for 11+ and he school is 13+ is t possible to differ the entry to 13+ (including bursary award)? Thank you.

You'd have to ask the school concerned OP, especially about the bursary about deferral of the place. Have you got a definite offer from a school from the 11+ that also takes pupils at 13?

Normally it's a no

We were told not and would have to reapply. Some 13+ schools now preallocate deferred places at 11 though, subject to year 8 /CE performance, but that is normally earlier in the school year.

It will vary from school to school so without knowing the school concerned no one will be able to answer.

Why not ask the school if you can defer the place?

Thank you. I feel it might be a risk with bursary award so trying to analyse before asking.

I suspect they will want another pupil to have the benefit of the funding for the first two years so you risk losing it. Why do you hope to defer?

Ask them

You don’t know if they made too many offers or too few. If the former they may say yes. Or if they are squeezed on bursary money so would not mind saving two years.

However my guess is that it is normally a no, and they would expect a good reason. Ie their first though may be that you want to keep your options open and may never show up.

Speak to them. This will be entirely dependent on the school in question

Why would you not want your child to go at 11? Is it because you want a different school really?
