(9 Posts)From what I understand Ibstock are, as you rightly say, setting a computer-based test (CEM, I believe) and reasoning in early Jan. They are no longer interviewing everyone and so there will be a call back for potential candidates for the second exam day which will consist of ‘workshops’. The old format of computer-based test with interview on day 1 followed by day 2 of exam papers 3 weeks later has gone for 2021.
Sounds like they are moving to a more ISEB type format/CAT tests.
refreshing this thread if possible
does anyone understand the upcoming format of the IPS exam this year ?
All external candidates for entry to
Senior 7 (11+) are invited for a computer-based test and a one-hour written Reasoning Paper (verbal and nonverbal).
Thanks both. We are at a state school so working this all out for ourselves. Such a minefield the whole thing! I don’t know if the English is going to include creative writing or more of an essay - do any of you know people from previous years who might know this? Not that that’s a guarantee but might give us all a steer on what to prep them for.
Thank you for the replies, if nothing else it feels good to know we are all in the same boat!
@UntamedShrew on the level of difficulty, I understand it to be in the "middle of the range".
Together with KGS, it easily gives the most offers to our independent primary.
Hi both - I've only just turned my attention to the Ibstock exam (a bit late in the day, oops). Having re-read the info, I see what you mean.
There doesn't seem to be any info about the format of the papers or even the length.
I can understand not giving details about the format, but it would be helpful (to DD at least) to know how long the papers are.
As an aside, I did smile at the quaint reference to DCs bringing "mathematical instruments" to the exam. I'm assuming ruler and protractor!
Thank you. I’m trying to see it as a good thing that at least you can’t over-prepare... [clutches at straws]
Only know what they have sent ; papers in English ,Maths and both reasonings....and wear school uniform !
Does anyone know anything about the entrance exam format? It is the only one of our chosen schools for which we have been unable to find any past papers. They have done a pre-test but have the papers still to come next week. Any input welcome, thoughts on difficulty levels and areas they always include particularly! Thanks all.
