Anyone who would like to join in general chat about the imminent exams? Somewhere to let off some steam out of earshot of DC!Smile

Really does come around pretty quickly. We’ll all blink and it’ll be over as quickly as it came...lol
DC is sitting RR and Caterham here.

It’s crazy after all the thinking about it and prep that it’s finally here! We start on Monday with Hampton. Sitting 3 total here and they will be finished by next Sat thank heavens. We’ve actually been away over Xmas and not looked at a book in 10 days or so. But I’m sure that all that can be done has been done by now. Good luck to everyone’s DC!

Letting off steam sounds like a marvellous idea!

We kick off with Ibstock tomorrow afternoon, then Putney on Saturday morning. Another few next week and the week after - finish on 18 Jan. Going to be a long few weeks....

Good luck all.

@ripple11 that’s the same format as Reeds Shock A lot! We have that Tuesday with an interview after. At least it’s all done in the one day.

@somekindofmagic ...some are so different. ie Ibstock "day 1" is a computer test and interview, before a written exam on "day 2" later in the month. So at least he is gtd one interview! Grin

It's a big ol' circus isn't it! I actually feel a bit for the schools and how they come to the decision on offers - it must be a mathematical conundrum! They all over offer but by how much must be logistical nightmare requiring huge amounts of wine strategic thinking.

We’ve noticed that with younger siblings some schools aren’t giving places to the younger sibling if they really wanted the older sibling and didn’t get them, even if they would fit (or exceed) their typical profile. Equally if the parent has mucked them around with a younger sibling. They have plenty of pupils applying for each place so can be very picky!

Good luck everyone, I was in your shoes this time last year, when my last of 3 was 11+ing. This too shall pass.

I'm in. I've been through it before but it doesn't get any easier. Not looking forward to the next month but then the sorting hat will sort. Just trying to keep DS calm through it all. Trinity, very interesting as we have applied for schools we had an offer for but previously rejected for DC1 .....

I'm in - DD had Guildford HS today, and has got Surbiton HS next Wednesday, followed by SWPS on Sat 11th.

Hi all,
Sailing in the same boat again after two years. My DS goes to RGS and now it’s my DD. GHS of course an obvious choice making our life less complicated:-).
DD wrote GHS yesterday and found few maths questions were quite tricky, I bribe last 3-5 questions out of 18. She thinks she did well in English and interview.
Much worried now :-(
A long wait and with the previous year history expects results will be out on 17th and we will get post by 18th !!
Good luck to everyone!

@Satvik my DD found maths tricky/hard too.

We’re new to the area - I know Tormead is less academic but not sure how it compares to SW London schools - does anyone know if entry is WHS/PHS level or more Surbiton?

Thanks so much!

Hello, have been reading the thread and thought I would delurk. My ds is sitting Kew House tomorrow and KGS on Tuesday- he is fine and I am quite nervy!

Good luck to all DC's tomorrow and hope they get a calm nights rest. It's the start of a very busy couple of weeks.

We start Tuesday ....I'm expecting not much sleep for me... but I am trying to keep DS as calm as possible, so he is getting possibly too much zzzzz.

Top tip - bring something fun at pick up, go for Hot Choc/Cake, afternoon off school...anything goes after the tests (but don't talk about it, just a big smile and hug... unless they want to... and then just listen). It's a long couple of weeks.

Any Hampton feedback from this morning?

DS came out smiling which was the main thing. I’m glad that one is done. It was definitely going to be our hardest 😅 We didn’t debrief much but he said he felt he did ok and was happy so can’t ask for more. Maths was tricky in places and he had to leave out 5 or so questions. English seemed to be fine. There were a few comprehension questions that he didn’t understand.

Good advice @logfire2020. My DH was armed with a Krispy Kreme!

Onto the next...
