Call back after ISEB Pretest for Eton, Harrow and Winchester

Hello,

DS wrote the ISEB Pretest last week, does anyone know how long it takes to get a call back from these schools? Also has anyone ever requested the results from ISEB?

Eton first round results came out in the second week of December last year. DS didn't sit for Harrow so not sure about that one. He did Win Coll but they didn't use ISEB last year so the process was different.

Winchester are aiming for 6/7 Dec and I believe Eton is mid-month. I don’t know about Harrow.
Do you have any advice for the pretest? 😊We’re overseas and my son is sitting his first paper tomorrow. He’s doing it all on his own..!

It's a bit late to tell him how to study, however he should note that the maths test is adaptive and becomes progressively harder.

Yes, I think i am probably more nervous than he is! Do you know for the English paper if all the questions are about the passage? We've been using Atom and BOFA mocks and they have most of the questions about the passage, followed by some questions that aren't based on the passage and are purely grammar/punctuation/spelling correction etc.

DS said that the questions were just as you stated however leaned more towards BOFA mock pretests, seeing as Atom learning asks a wider range of English questions i.e. parts of speech, article type etc.

Thanks so much. Also as far as I know, ISEB don’t release the scores. I have heard anecdotally that Harrow gives a steer.

We have just gotten a call back from Harrow though.

Hopefully Winchester and Eton come back to us sooner than later.

Wonder why the scores are not released.

Is this Atom Learning's first year doing this? It will be interesting to see how close they are to the actual test vs BOFA.

My son said BOFA was closer than Atom. Interesting.

Atom is supposed to be cutting edge. But they are so new.

@insalaco how did you find out that Winchester was going to give a call back on 6/7 December if you don’t mind me asking? Was that from their admissions dept?

Gotten call back from Winchester.

Have also received an e-mail from WinColl.
Feels strange as the pre-tests translate into reality..

Anybody knows if
the school sends an email even when a boy fails
in the ISEB Common test? (Specially Eton)

Now that some boys receive the emails from
Winchester and there are some who did not receive any emails?

@lujah I think everyone did get an email from Winchester? We got one the same day as the other people. Eton will be sending things out next week I believe

My son sat the ISEB test on the 31st Oct.
Got an email from Harrow on the 5th Nov.
Got an email from Winchester on the 4th Dec.

It seems that fail case doesn't receive any email.

Maybe st pauls and eton results will be released
next Wednesday.

Another Eton here. Been lurking.
My son is young for his year and his interview not until April/May. What do I need to do to prepare?

I'm worried about this. Some days he is brilliant and excited about science or whatever and some days he is a typical 10yo and wants play in a cardboard box. Who knows which version they will get on the day?

They need to interview practice "101 uses of a cardboard box" ;-)
