My child has just been put on the waiting list for a school she was 4th in June and now 3rd in October do you think she has any chances of being accepted, i hope she gets accepted in a few months

It completely depends on the school and the area (urban likely to have more movement than rural, generally speaking) but if there's only been movement of one place in 4 months I really wouldn't hold your breath. It must be very frustrating, but try to make the best of the situation you have.

Do bear in mind positions can go down as well as up. If someone else with a higher priority on the oversubscription criteria than you moved into the area you may find yourself bumped down the list rather than up.

Other factors include how big a year group and how popular the school.

On the other hand, if a place comes up, those higher up may no longer want it if their child has settled at the school they are in.

Relocated from abroad-son looking for a place in year 11.
What options do I have if he doesn't get a place?
Thanks

Shag You may be better off starting your own thread.

Unless your son has been doing GCSEs at an international school, I'd talk to the LA about him going into y10. What could also impact is whether his English standard is 'native fluent' or 'second language'.

Was he studying GCSEs abroad? If not (and possibly even if he was, given differences in boards and topic order), why would you want a place in year 11 ?
