(11 Posts)Habs is an amazing school and would highly recommend it. But that's a hell of a commute - you'd want to move.
@UB10mum , I think by this stage in the process when there is less than a week to make a decision it's unlikely you will get the feedback you are looking for on a forum. The number of times you have visited both schools and the process you as a family have been through should indicate that concerns you have read on forums may not be valid in terms of your dd and her future schooling. At this point decisions are normally made on gut feeling, journey times and fees cost. Your dd is bound to be happy and fulfilled at either so perhaps avoid the house move.
My sister lives near HABS and if we choose to send our DD to HABS we are willing to move closer to the school.
I need some honest opinion from parents as in another chat, there are some comment about HABS (too much pressure on girls, lack of pastoral care and girls leaving school with mental health issues??? )
I really like HABS but my Hubby and daughter's first choice is LEH.
Really appreciate all your advice/opinions as decision making is hard...any haven't got much time.
Thanks
Totally agree on basis of commute alone.
Though I have 2 nieces at Habs & know that it is an amazing site, my DD seems to have a broader world view & interest in politics, history etc than my nieces. Given similar genes(!) I wonder if that's down to her school or just how it goes.
Commute, though, even if you drive past Habs every day, it will be a very long commute, and very inconvenient for parents' evenings, school plays and concerts, taking her to & from sports matches - you will hate having to do that drive several evenings a term, never mind your DD!
Too many typos. But I am sure you understood!
And I say that as a Habs parent who loved the school very much.
But no school is worth a killer of a commune and social isolation.
Do Habs have a bus as far out as Heathrow?
Also think about her social life. Most will live in NW London and Herts so on location alone, I would think LEH would be the better option.
They are both great schools. Your DD might be able to physically get there but have you thought about the journey time? Habs Girls tend to come from N London/Herts, you need to think about social life, tiredness from an overlong journey & after school activities. I have no idea if LEH is closer, but if it is I would go with that. Your DD will be in a tiny minority (if not the only one) travelling from Heathrow to Elstree everyday.
Hi,
Yes I did read, we live in Hounslow/Heathrow area & getting there won't be a problem & getting to HABS is not an issues too..
Just wanted some info/opinion on both schools as we have to make a decision soon.
Thanks
OP, where do you live and how is your dd going to travel to LEH?
Both Hampton and LEH who share a school bus system tend to attract dc who live near the school bus stops or use a TFL bus or walk. Have your read the current LEH transport thread on elevenplusexams.co.uk forum?
DD has been offered place from HABS girls n LEH (Lady Eleanor Holles)
We like both the schools and confused which one to go for her, she too love both the schools.
It would be great to hear from the current parents whose DD are currently studying in HABS n LEH and share their experience!
Thanks
