Would anyone happen to know why an independent bursary review is due to take place at our home, even though our daughter has not been offered a place at QCL.

Presumably you've applied for a place?

When you applied did you tell the school that acceptance of a place, if offered, was dependant on a bursary?

Good morning, yes we’ve completed all the necessary steps, and received a letter stating that we were on the waiting list but would not be entitled to a bursary if a place became available. To add to that an independent bursary home visit, arranged by the school will take place tomorrow. Very strange indeed.

Yes, hence we applied for both a bursary and music scholarship. It seems contradictory.

A definitive no is easy to understand, but why do they still require a home visit...

Definitely mixed messages from the school. I would phone the bursar to get clarity.

Hi Sue51, thanks for your reply. I dropped them an email yesterday after I had returned from work. So of course it the school was already closed and from my experience Bursars very rarely pick up the phone. I will post an update after the home visit tomorrow.

But you don't have to agree!

I don't mean there's anything wrong with home visits intrinsically - but you're entitled to some explanation of what looks like an administrative error, first. It would appear that you might now be on the potential bursary list. Or it might be that you're still not on that list but your name's been typed in the wrong column.

If it were me I'd phone them today.

Hi QuaterMiss, thanks for your message. I’ve tried phoning both the school and bursary reviewer - neither of them are open! So frustrating. Thank you for your support.
