Does anyone know for the 11+ the number of applicants verses the number of places for the competitive schools in London? I am particularly interested in the boys schools Westminster/ King's/ SPS; but please feel free to info of the other equally competitive schools.

I know that this is a question parents have for many schools.

Well I don't know about those in particular but Whitgift this year had around 900 applicants I think.

Remember though that many parents will make multiple applications - and the same students will be offered places at more than one school. They can only take up one place.

I think a good question is how many children whose parents are happy to pay for a private education fail to get a place at a private school.

CLS last year was 700+ for 50-55 places (ended up being 70 places because offer takeup was higher than anticipated)

Yes - and some will have as their first choice a state grammar, or a state comprehensive but are not sure that they will get it re distance, so might turn down private for state.
