Termly Testing in ks3

Our school gives very little information about their termly testing in ks3. I know schools have different policies etc, but just wondering how it works in your school.
Does the end of term 2 test includes term 1 topics and term 3 includes term 1 and 2 or is it just the topics dc learn during that particular term?

At my DC's school they have a test at the end of each topic in each subject (so it might be more frequently than termly) which just covers that topic. Then they have an exam at the end of the year (well more May time actually ...), which covers everything they did that year.

But I imagine this is something that all schools do differently!

I think the termly tests cover the work done that term, end of year exams April/May cover the whole year to date.

Depends on the subject. Science at our school is basically a term of each science so it would be a physics test rather than a science test. For maths there would naturally be overlap. For example algebra learned in term 1 might be used in a question from a term 3 topic.

I think from KS3 the kids are expected to ask the teacher what's on the test. It's sometimes on one topic (say History) but might be everything (say German )

My daughter's school does half term lay test covering everything they have done in the previous half term. My daughter's first few days back next week are mostly taken up with these tests in geography, maths, science, French, Spanish, history. RE, and English.

Its a shame that tests aren't scheduled at the end of term so children can chill over Xmas.

Ours did end of topic tests at the end of each topic throughout the year.

Then internal exam in Jan/Feb covering work from Sept until then.

Then internal exam in June covering work all year.
