Hi there, is anyone preparing for the 10+exams on Saturday ? Its all very exciting and nerve wrecking it would be good to hear from mums who already have their children there, is it worth all the stress and money?

Great school. Very happy. Lovely to see girls and boys rub along together (normal, but not very normal for London with its plethora of single sex schools). Sport is very inclusive ,not just for the top performers. Pastoral care outstanding, IMO, although I don't have anything to compare with, but it does seem to be a particular strength of the school and I can't see anything to go against that.

Please TRY not to stress - just see this as practice for 11+. The kids (I know of) in DC's year that sat 10+ that didn't get offers are in there now! Deep breaths.

Thanks a million for your reply at this time of the night deep breaths is right ;) although we're treating as a mock I'd still like her to feel good walking out to boost the confidence feeling determined for next years instead of been scared, hopefully she'll pass either one.
Glad to hear your comments it always helps when it comes from experience. Thanks again

They give feedback later on. Honestly, whatever happens it will stand her in good stead for the 11+. Relax now. You will need your strength for next tear.. take it from someone that knows! Best of luck.

Approach Saturday as a practice and try and make it fun. KGS are looking for exceptional dc at 10plus not top of the class bright etc which will cover all the dc sitting the exam. It's really good practice for 11 plus because there isn't a lot of difference between the 10 plus and 11 plus exams layouts and the VR at 10 that may seem hard to complete in the allocated time is a lot easier by 11 when you have had another year of practice. The feedback is really useful too. My dc used 10 plus as practice and then passed at 11 plus but went to another school instead.

Hope it went well, my dd got in on the 10+ a few years ago and is very happy there. I just told her it was a shot to nothing and she should relax and treat it as a trial run.

Verbal reasoning she only got as far as 72 didn't get to finish English was easy enough but maths was the hardest and didn't get to finish it;((( so it's hard to say pity they don't give you the marks

That's good for the VR! My DC found English hardest. Do you know how many sat?

250 sat the exam and maths just as they started the electricity went which threw her off as she only had the emergency lights so minimum lights ...what did you dc think of the maths

Maths was ok, I think. Not as bad as the VR or English. 250 is a lot!

Ps don't worry about the lights. Everyone was in the same boat.

It would be brilliant to have the marks

They won't give marks, apparently, but will tell whether in the top 25%, 50% etc by subject. And which subjects stronger / weaker. I've looked online and all candidates will know by next Friday (11th January), but feedback will be later

DC did the 10-plus a couple of years ago. Got very detailed feedback but only where they came quartile wise, not actual percentages. They also told us what was needed to be worked on for a good shot at the 11 plus. Some people I think are told if they're so far off the mark it's not worth it.
But- we couldn't get any feedback until late May if I remember rightly.
The feedback we got was exactly what I thought it would be in terms of strong areas, weaker areas etc.
DC got an offer at 11 plus.

Well done at least all your hard work paid off yeah it's good if they give you direct feedback you can gauge where you stand

Don't worry about not finishing
DD didn't finish the maths paper and found it really hard and got in!

Really that's amazing so it's not a case of passing all 3 exams ?

We have just received an email mentioning that we should have details of this Friday test tomorrow morning(a 10+ offer holder) so hopefully everyone should also find out the result soon. Such a stressful time. Good luck!
