Application Deadline

I had an uncharacteristic panic earlier today and just had to log back in to the council website to check that I had actually submitted the form, rather than just made the decision and then not bothered.

But it's done, the application has been made, and, I suppose, my baby will be off to secondary school in September.

So, if you're like me, and not always as organised as you might like to be, this is a bit of a nudge to just check that you've applied for a secondary place because the deadline is today.

Haha I logged in earlier to check I'd actually pressed the submit button and attached DD's birth certificate scan. Then I remembered the confirmation email and had to forward it to DH so he can calm me down if I have a last-minute panic

Last night at about 11pm I started reading an article on secondary places and it mentioned that the deadline was midnight last night. Cue me having a massive panic and digging out the application as we haven’t done ours yet, was massively stressing but thankfully here in wales the deadline is November 30th!! I double and triple checked and it says November several time in the paper work plus the council website also says November!!

Wait. Birth cert? I didn't have to upload a birth certificate. Am I missing something?

W0rriedMum that just freaked me too as I didn’t upload birth certificate. Still received the application confirmation though so must be ok. Yes?!?

Sorry W0rriedmum & niceberg!! I'm in London (Camden) and we have to scan/upload proof of DOB.

@Zinnia was this your first application for this child, i.e. are you coming from an independent school into the state sector?

This child was already set up in the system from the primary school application. Maybe I did it back then..

@W0rriedMum no, 2nd application - state to state! - but both website and email say:

"Thank you for submitting your online application.

^Please read the following, which contains important information of what you need to do next.

Proof of your child's date of birth

You need to submit proof of your child's date of birth, for example a copy of his/her NHS medical card or short birth certificate^"

think it is just a Camden thing, they say you can post docs to Camden Town Hall as well. Apologies again if I've inadvertently given anyone a mini heart-attack!

I think it probably depends on the LEA and how many fraudulent applications they get/pressure on places.

I checked our confirmation mail and it said a lot about proving your address and nothing about proving DOB. It must be most certain LEAs as said above.

Yes, there was nothing like that here (Wiltshire). Good luck, everyone.

Confused Confused

Just checked my letter from Oxfordshire - we don't have to submit birth certificates.

Blood pressure has returned to normal now.

Good luck! It's going to be a long wait until 1 March!

Ours also didn't require birth certificate, just proof of address for parents and children, hope I haven't missed anything...
