Henley college vs Bucks Grammar for year 12

My DS is currently contemplating whether to take art subjects a a Bucks Grammar school in year 12 or to take up his offer at the Henley College to read science subjects. Anyone out there have experience on this dilema. Henley on Thames is a delightful town, but not having lived in the area, we could like to get anecdote evidence of the nature of the college.

Does he want to do science or arts is surely a more pressing question?

Hmmnmn personally I’m not keen on a henley college- some flourish there but many don’t. Which Grammar ? My children (not 6th form) are at SWBGS and love it.

‘Has always enjoyed science as a past time; but failed to put in the effort to meet the grades; has never been regarded as a potential BA student

His only reprieve to stay on the science route is at Henley College :-(

I’m assuming if only HC will take him for science subjects that he has only got 5’s in them? Whereas he will have got 7’s in subjects Grammar Schools are offering?

Ask Henley College their A level results for the sciences. How do students perform with his level of GCSEs?

What does he want to do? Which Grammar is it? Tge Bucks Grammars vary greatly but all are very different from HC.

Also meant to say where do you live and what’s the transport like to both schools? That would be a major factor in decision making.

The standard to get into a Bucks grammar 6th form does not vary much. Which arts subjects and does he have a place at a grammar? If so, which one? I would probably accept the grammar but it depends on the whether he wants that higher pressure environment or not.

I was meaning the actual feel / ethos of schools vary greatly- RGS and JHGS are very different schools for instance (actually the entrance requirements do vary a bit depending on whether you have to include all subjects in av points score etc).

OP I know Henley College well if you have any specific questions.
