...and we're off again. Thanks @mmzz for a lovely new thread.

DS1 has geography tomorrow but is spending this evening on U16 cricket strategy. The new U16 league has complicated new rules which he and his friends (who also have geography tomorrow) are convinced they can work to their advantage. I expect their agents think they are busy with revision. Glad to hear your cricket went well yesterday @KingscoteStaff

Good news from DD's Year 9 exams. 100% in her German Oral and some other excellent marks. Apparently making the examiner laugh is the key to getting a good mark. I hope DS1 doesn't try the same trick with Geography tomorrow.

Well hellooooooo! Thanks mmzz. This time I can see your comments easily as well as keep tracking my own. So much more civilised.

What's German for "I'm impressed" Sandy?

mmzz thanks for new thread - title says it all!
Sostenueto just caught up with pup's news and hope she's recovering quickly. Thanks
DS did loads of revision and is completely zonked out!
It sounds like history went well today, good work by all the dcs.
My main advice for English tomorrow? Read the questions carefully and keep an eye on the time!

You'd have to ask DD that @Stickerrocks but unfortunately she has just disappeared to watch Love Island Confused

The Main thing that I learned today is do not ask in detail about an exam.
DS said the History exam was ok. Then he told us (me and DH) what he wrote and my heart sank! DH, somehow not engaging brain, started to ask "after you wrote that, did you then make this obvious point...?" and the answer was no. Then he did it on another question whilst I was wondering if telepathy ever exists, because if It does, then I have an urgent message to send: "stop speaking"!

Thank you for new thread mmzz love title!Flowers
Glad all DC who had exams survived relatively unscathed and all I know will do well!Star
Thanks for best wishes from all for pup curled up on bed with her 'baby'.Flowers
A summer of learning will entail me trying to build a corner unit for garden out if wooden palettes! Phase 2 of garden almost done with help from gardener doing heavy stuff suitably plied with copious homemade cakes and builders tea!

I dare not mention English. All I get is I know what to do, they expect too much, I will do my best, I hate English, leave it out, its commonsense, I have no imagination blah blah blah!

Just checking in ready for the English language post mortem tomorrow.

Dd is feeling fairly calm about it. She's more stressed about sciences next week.

Poor pup sos

DS was pleased with history today. He said the big mark questions were on his stronger topics, and the short ones on his weaker ones so he is hopeful he did ok. It was America and WW1 today for him.

Whata nightmare about dc getting the wrong papers. I don't know how DS would cope with that.

English language tomorrow.

DS has OCR Geography tomorrow - 2nd of 3 papers. It's not until the afternoon, so he's going to head in to the library in the morning. 7 more to go, 7 more to go..

Thanks for the new thread mmzz

I'm loving watching the garden transformation sost i'st like grand designs but for gardens Smile

I've realised that when Ds comes home and says how the exam went I can only see the worse........
If the exam was easy, I'm thinking well clearly you've missed the point!
If the exam was tricky.......well you haven't done well
If he says what he generally does which is it was fine.....I'm what does that even mean......I think I just hate the not knowing!!!!!!

Anyway good luck everyone for English tomorrow and fellow geographers!

dd managed her history today, even though she left her glasses at home....
well, except that big question she ran out of time on...... oh yes, and those 2 at the beginning that she was going to leave until the end as they were only worth 4 marks each.... Hmm

We'll write that one off then Grin

Good luck with Eng Lang and the Geographers tomorrow...and crossing fingers that Loose's class make her proud too!

Counting down ...6 after tomorrow...oddly enough I think the exams are rolling off really quickly ..

Glad that pup is going to be okay Sost - although phantom pregnancy doesn't sound like much fun.

Re the post exam dissection that you described mmzz, I definitely don't do that anymore after a similar experience last year when dd did ICT short course GCSE a year early (she told me she has "pretty much made up" the answers to the first two questions), and after History Paper 1 this year - her first exam of this season and 'Munich Gate' ( a ten pointer disaster). Now I am happy to be given a general response. Ignorance is bliss

As it happens dd got an A in ICT short course last year and was 1 mark off an A* so my angst after quizzing her on the paper was misplaced.
