Name Labels for Sports Kit

Once again DS has somehow managed to lose another sports top, and this just cant keep going on with the price they cost as well. I am in search of a foolproof naming system for sports kit at all costs! Having asked some parents, I had suggestions from embroidery to these giant 1 inch high name labels on the outside. Does anyone have experience in either of these naming systems/What do people find to be the best way to label sports kit, to prevent loss and theft?

our school does have large initials sewn on the outside. This at least stops kids from either accidentally taking something, or deliberately taking something when they've forgotten their own!..... I also use permanent marker on the inside or a small iron on label on the outside if the item is quite dark. Has worked so far.....

You can get an indelible ink stamp, with name on and stamp on each label in the garment. Foolproof. I'll try and find a link.

Uniform shops near me will embroider names onto any item you like for around £3 per word.

As a child right up until 18, all my sports kit, school shirts, school jumper, etc. were embroidered with my name on the outside across the front - certainly stopped me from losing anything! I use this exact same method for current DCs both in secondary school and has worked a charm - nothing so far lost!

DD used to be straight down just awful at losing clothes, until I decided in year 9 to make a change to this. Like you mentioned, I ordered these giant 1 inch high name tapes in capital green letters of just surname, and sewed them onto the outside of all her sports kit (front across chest or front across thigh) and also on the outside of her coat and school bag, as you said, to prevent theft and loss at all costs. Needless to mention they have worked an absolute charm and I could not recommend this method of labelling any higher - please message me if you want any more details?

Yes, another for Stamptastic. After many washes the ink is still easily legible.
