I live locally and it doesn't have the best reputation. No personal experience of it though

People don't choose it. I dont know anybody who considered it even as a 5th or 6th choice. They appear to have quite a high turnover of staff too.

What choice of schools do you have? The children are set for everything from year 8 so if your DC are able then they would be in tops sets and it may be that some of the lessons you saw were lower sets. I definitely think some of the other comprehensives do amazing showy open evenings and tours and Anglo don't put any effort into theirs but it is important not to be swayed by a fake show. Also some of the others put far more attention on appearance ie uniforms, hair etc where Anglo are relaxed. It is totally the right school for the one of my DC who is there and who would definitely not fit in anywhere else but it is certainly not perfect. What ages are your DC?

There is another Anglo European school - In Bishops Stortford, Herts (but only 2/3 miles from the Essex Border). It has a much better rep than the one in Ingatestone but consequently, it is the most over-subscribed school in Hertfordshire.

For East Grinstead, is it Sackville or Imberhorne? I have experience of both.

Schools in the UK shouldn't be closed for holidays until half term week at the end of May. However there is a bank holiday on the first Monday of May but that is the only one day that schools will be closed.

What can you say about Ingatestone one?

You can easily arrange foreign exchanges outside of school.
