Hi, any insider knowledge on Reeds and if it has changed academically since the new Head from RGS? Also St John’s? Thanks!

For 11+ they are both hard to get into. Reeds is now the back up for RGS & Hampton. St John's has captured an element of pastoral care that is missing in most surrounding schools and the academic level of dc accepting places will push through into their results in future years. St John’s only has a max of 60 in the year for lower school with equal girls and boys making it statistically harder for the ds to get in as they have less choice of schools. The school that seems to have more space is Epsom College but I'm waiting for an 11+ place due tomorrow! PM me if you want more views of ds 11+ this year (although ds didn't sit Reeds).

Hi Sunshine5050, that’s really helpful thanks as we are in Richmond and looking for less “urban” schools than the inner London ones as my son is very keen on rugby. He’s got into Reeds and St John’s (with a sports scholarship) and we also did Epsom! I didn’t realise the results come out tomorrow so thanks for letting me know about that too :) and good luck for that one. Would you put Epsom around the same as Reeds and St John’s? Sorry, I wasn’t sure how to PM you directly as new to this. Thanks again.

@Waterloo, which school did you go for in the end?

Hi Sunshine, We have deliberated hard and have surprisingly gone for Whitgift. We also have a 13+ Wellington offer and figured if we want to take that, it would be easier via Whitgift. Such a hard decision in the end and the schools varied so much in our minds because of different factors. Decided against Epsom and Harrodian too in the end which I found really hard to turn down. How about you? RGS?

We went for Hampton, it was quite straightforward in the end and I'm very glad it's all over. Congrats to your ds, I'm sure he will love the sport at W.
