Is a gcse submission today a late entry.

Long story short

GCSE music teacher is rubbish.
Is now off sick.
Kids are year 11
Replacement teacher is fab and going all she can to get the kids where they should be but today has mentioned that none of the class are entered for the GCSE they have been working towards.
I've queried this with the school and they are trying to tell me the usual submission date is 21 feb. But why did the sub teacher have to ask the kids if they we're expecting to sit the gcse and tell them they would entered late?

I'm trying to keep faith with the school but it's tough when they cover up for poor performance.

Totally normal to be doing exam entries now, and they wouldn't be late submissions. No idea why the teacher said that they would be late, maybe she got her dates muddled up.

None of our students have been entered for the summer GCSE exams yet. The deadline for entries is 21 February. As noblegiraffe said, totally normal to be doing entries now.

I've worked in an exams office. Yes, the exam board deadline for cheapest entries is 21 February, though you can submit entries after this at higher cost. Usually the examinations officer at the school will have their own deadlines for the teachers to get all the entries to the exams officer, so they can check all the details are correct. Maybe the replacement teacher was referring to the school's internal deadline for exam entries, or maybe she just didn't realise that the exam board deadlines are later.
