Is your daughter currently at the Marist?

I went to one of them but that was years ago so probably not much use to you..!!

No my daughter is not at the marist yet, it is one school I am looking at for her to move to in year 7. Really like the look of it, but have heard very mixed reviews, so I am a bit confused.

To be brutal, if she's not there (or in independent school) there is a slim chance of her getting in...

Why do you say this? as apparently they take about 60 students into year 7, only half of which come from the junior school. Yes my daughter is already in a private junior school.

I know this through experience!! My daughter was at the Marist and was asked to stay, some of her friends didn't even get in...

I will say that if your daughter is academic, then the Marist is the best choice, but if she is sporty then SWPS is the best choice

Thank you so much, she is very academic, but also fairly sporty. May I ask, did your daughter enjoy her time at the Marist, was she in Marist senior?

The Marist is not academic! They got 84% of GCSEs at A*-B (61% As) last year. My DH's school got 90% (68% As) and they are widely considered an 'inclusive' school for nice chaps who are not very bright.

Lowdoorinthewal1, where would you recommend for an academic girl in the Ascot area? thanks

Wellington College.

If you are really set on a girls' school then Lady Eleanor Holles if she's very confident and SWPS if she needs a more sheltered environment.

Are your Prep not advising you? That is what Prep schools are for.

Yes my prep has been brilliant and have recommended some great schools, I just thought I would ask to see if anyone had any personal experience or advice. Thanks for your help.

SWPS is regarded as significantly more academic than the Marist. Good sport too.
