Worksop College or Hill House

DD is currently in Y10 at a local academy. DP and I are unhappy with the standards of teaching (we have tried to engage them in a debate but they are honestly not interested.....so much so I resigned as parent-governor due the direction the school is going.

We are looking to move DD to a local independent - Worksop College do entry into Y11, Hill House have intimated that she may need to redo Y10 if the exam boards don't match up.

Does anyone have any experience of either school - DD is very academic and is being predicted 8/9's in her GCSE's. Anything I should know about either school, e.g. Plans for reorganisation or change in focus etc.

Ps - DD is also unhappy in school at the moment due to the teachers attitudes - lot of negativity, classes being told they are not trying/are going to fail but no helpful feedback on what they should be doing.

Focus is on the middle/low achievers and DD is bored. We are doing as much as we can to keep her interested and motivated but we really need to make a decision on Y11. Home Ed not an option!

These are very different schools and if you haven't done so, I would suggest visiting so that you can see the differences first hand. Hill House would like to think itself the more academic but they are selective whereas Worksop aren't. Worksop achieved 6 Oxbridge offers this year which was certainly more than HH. You need to factor in Saturday school at Worksop which may or may not make a difference to you...

Thanks Smudger - both schools are local to me so I knew about Saturday's at Worksop.

Am waiting for a prospectus from HH then I'll get visits booked.
