Wandsworth Test

Help! I don't know why but I thought the wansdworth test for admissions 2018 was in January 2018 - but it's in September 2017.

I havent prepared my daughter at all for verbal and non verbal.

Please I really need some advice. On the website they say they use GL aasesment papers but I can't find GL assesment papers on amazon.

Alos, can anyone recommend a website or books that help break down how to teach your child verbal and non verbal.

Any advice will be very much appreciated.

The Wandsworth test dates have changed this year. You're not going crazy.

Bond books from Amazon or WH Smiths. There is also Bond online, which explains answers to the questions.

Wandsworth primary schools know the date already I think. We have been told it but I have lost the. It of paper!

From the council "The registration period for current Yr5 pupils to take the Wandsworth Year 6 Test in September 2017 will open on 3rd July and close on 8th September.
Please do not register if your child is already attending a maintained Wandsworth primary school as your child will take the test in school."

We get results from school today- are they given as just a score or is there some sort of context so we can see how they did? Its not important for any of the schools we’re looking at but I’m curious as to how DC does..

I have been told by a tutor that there is "extra credit given in the test for August-born children". Does anyone know anything about this? Can't find any official reference to it in the Wandsworth Council website.

The tests are ‘standardised’ according to age. DC came home with theirs but I’m not much clearer on how they did compared to others!

I'm not 100% sure what this means in practice. So if my son is August born, is he compared and ranked against the standard for all August borns taking the test? So if he does well for an August born, but not as well as a September born, is it equalled out somehow?

Maths not my strong point ... hope it's not hereditary.

Age-based standardisation essentially means that younger children will need to get fewer questions correct than an older child to get the same standardised score. So for a child aged 10 and 1 month to get the same standardised score as a child aged 10 and 11 months, the latter will need to get more questions correct. See -

Thanks both- I have that info but we’re mainly looking at Independents or state schools that aren’t selective so trying to get a sense of how DD is doing as have no idea! Wondering how many get near 141!

Well around the 127 mark would get you into Graveney
Lots of kids who get into independent schools don't score that highly
But the independent school exams / interviews are looking at different things
