St. Paul's reserve list

My DS recently got reserved list for St Paul's boys doing the 13+ pretest. Does anyone know what the exam next year (maths and English) entails and what material we can use to prepare for it ?

I'm guessing he's not on a reserve but did well on the pretest and is through to the exam?

It's a computer based maths test and written English composition - ds had write an argument for or against children going out to work. There was then an interview with the lovely head of academics (or somesuch) where they discussed the paper and general questions about school, hobbies, etc. Parents get interviewed by head too!

No prep but the current school did mock interviews to give him an idea of how to behave - which didn't work. He broke their computer and bounced around like Tigger on speed.

Thanks but he's already done the above and was offered to be placed on reserve list not main list. He has a second chance and This test will take place in 1.5 years from now. Wanted to know what that entails ...

Oh sorry - I've not heard of this. Your school should be able to tell you.

If it's the common entrance then he will sit the 8 subjects using the ISEB papers.

My eldest is in year 8 and was in this situation in year 6. In year 8 they write to see if you are still interested and many, including us, say no because they have mentally moved on to another school.
We asked a lot about the wait list today as our ds2 was being interviewed for a 13+ place. The system is still the same, in year 8 if you want to be re assessed you will sit papers in maths and English only, more than what the y6s do but in line with year 7 standard work, plus interview and news from their prep head.
In the current year 8 cohort they had 100 on the wait list, 60 asked to be re considered and they have offered 30 places. And being wait list does not mean you are destined to be bottom either, which we also asked. But we know that because ds1 consistently outperforms several boys offered full places in year 6.

Not many people know - it is either new this year or was new last year - the year before one just edged up off the waiting list as usual.

Hello Nunu12,
My son is on the Reserve List and due to take the test in September. He is not at a school that prepares for common entrance.
How did you prepare for the test in the end?
Thank you.

Hi,

Can I please ask if anyone has received the outcome of last week's math and english exams that year 8 boys on the reserve list sat? The st paul's 13plus 2022 entry that is.
