A thread for anyone waiting for St paul's, City, NLC, Godolphin 11+ results 2017

Lots of helpful 11+ threads out there but here is a "sub thread" for anyone waiting for results from any of these 4 horribly competitive london day girls schools.

How did your girls find the written assessments, interviews? Have you applied to more than one of these schools? Any preferences if you have a choice? Hopefully this thread will help other parents in the same boat in subsequent years.

Do join in, bite nails together, share any insider info that you might have and hopefully celebrate all the outcomes on Friday, 10th!!!

Hi - i'm not in the same position but thought I would say that I feel your pain. I did 7+ (twice) and the wait is painful but hopefully it will all be worth it in the end. My elder DD sat the 11+ internally at NLCS so I am still waiting for an "offer" letter next week but hopefully for us it will be a formality. There is always the chance it may not be!!!

You are safe to buy the purse and pinafore. NLCS sends flashing neon warnings well before year 2 if there is even a chance that a DD should look elsewhere.

Hi,

We've applied to 3 "horribly competitive" West London schools. One of them interviews everyone, the other two DD got interviews at... it's hard to gauge how it went. As far as I can tell, by the time they get through the exams it's pot luck, really. (Unless perhaps they're outstanding musicians or sportswomen.)

SPGS and Godolphin from the ones on your list, though.

Daisy, that's what i am wondering - whether the girls have been ranked from exams already and the "top" girls will be offered unless they come across very badly at interview which is unlikely! I cannot imagine any girl getting through spgs written exams who isn't also able to shine at interview.

I gather they try to get girls who are original thinkers and weren't tutored/coached to excess. If they stand out in any way (music, drama, sport, etc) it's probably a plus. They may take other factors into consideration. I'm getting stressed again just as I was getting over the 11+...

I was hoping spgs was one of those schools who value academic ability above all else - their challenging assessment process suggests this. My daughter enjoys sport (B rather than A teams) music (grade 4 piano rather 5/6 distinction) etc but pretty bright. Not the type to have a reference from our Head glowing with a million achievements. Hope that's enough.

Did anyone get letters from Putney High this weekend? One able girl at our school did not get offered so it doesn't sound like an "easy" year so far.

Most of the girls schools outside north london consortium - Putney High, Wimbledon High and LEH results are out now. I wonder why City and NLC didn't follow suit and release early. The suspense!!!

We're waiting on NLC, Godolphin and City. Godolphin is a little too far for us to travel but my daughter fell in love at the open day and insisted on applying. City are emailing us I believe - does anyone know what time? NLC and I think St. Paul's are writing letters let's hope the post is behaving well.

Hi everyone, not long to go now. It's been a long day.
Biw, City said they would email everyone at 10am and to contact them if you haven't heard by lunchtime. I really like the way they have communicated with us throughout the process. St Paul's, Godolphin and NLC are indeed writing. If you get a large envelope it's a yes, a small envelope means a no!

Let's hope Mr Postman is reliable tomorrow. Half term next week. The timing sucks. Would have been better to get all the results last week or even early this week.

Good luck everyone xxx

Does anyone know whether G&L post was sent today so receive tomorrow or will it be sent in post tomorrow for Saturday delivery?

City or Godolphyn?

any views are appreciated! Godolphyn is 30 min away while City - 45, so not big difference and i work near Moorgate,

thank you!

We got offers from all the schools applied except spgs. Disappointed but also relieved to have some good choices. Now mulling over City, Godolphin or NLC. NL2016 we are kind of in the same boat!
I believe City is academically quite a few notches above Godolphin but the latter has a more pleasant location/environment/facilities. Difficult decision.
Congrats everyone!

Hi All

We are now choosing between Godolphin, Latymer Upper and Notting Hill and Ealing. We eel very lucky to be in this position & we never thought we would be so haven't prepared for this decision.

We like a Godolphin for its site and nurturing feel but we are worried it's full of the super rich.

We like LU for being co-ed and quite creative but I'm worried about the "cool" reputation.

Notting Hill feels lovely and very normal, less alpha-mum. But the faculties aren't as good.

If anyone has any experiences of these schools I'd love to hear them.

We are in a similar position, really like LU in general but worried about the "cool" factor as well...

We moved to London just a few months ago and entered head first into the 13+, 11+ and 4+ madness. DS is 13 and applied as a late candidate to City Boys and got it. DD did not get into City girls but got into Godolphin which she liked better (though we were hoping for City Girls because it's awesome and for convenience) so she is trilled! We are currently in Battersea but we need to move somewhere which will allow us to get all kids to school. Here's my question- what do we do with 4+ DD? She has spots at a few schools but none that are geographically convenient in the least. Does anyone have any suggestions please? Our of ignorance, falling in love with London and wanting to stay longer than we thought we would, and disorganization about not knowing where to even start.... we now are scrambling to find something for DD who needs to start reception in Sept. Any advice would be awesome. Thank you.
