6th forms in North London

Hi, please could you recommend some really good 6th forms in North London (private or state). I left it very late and need t do some research asap.

Single-sex or co-ed and how far North of London? You'd need to check with independent schools admissions offices/ websites, but the likes of NLCS, Habs, SHHS, City etc will have deadlines fast approaching. I know that Habs has just had an open morning (but am sure would arrange individual tours). Deadlines for state schools are later, usual end of this term - if you're willing to go slightly further out North, Dame Alice Owens is an excellent state co-ed school & takes around 40 each year into Yr12. Brampton College in Hendon has a very good reputation as a private 6th form (co-ed). Hope that helps a bit x

Girls - Queenswood School at Potters Bar. Weekly boarding and almost certainly will have places.

Thank you Jaguar and Bojorojo! I shall check all of these. I have heard about most apart from Queenswood, have you any info on it? How academic is it? Why would it most definitely have spaces? lots of availability is usually a bad sign

The Latymer School in Edmonton is great if you're North East - you tend to get quite a few transferring there from top independent schools because they want co-ed at sixth form.

Camden School for Girls (also co-ed) also worth a look.

Woodhouse College in Barnet is fantastic. Has the advantage of being a standalone 6th form college, so everyone is new in Y12, plus the staff only teach 6th formers. UCAS advice very good. They cover the full ability range, so they won't get the kind of stellar results that fully selective schools like Latymer do, but they do well for students of all abilities, lots going to Oxbridge/med school etc.

Their open day was Saturday, so you've missed the chance to look round and talk to staff, but you can still apply.
