To hate school nurses!

My dd is in yr7 at a really oversubscribed school and her sister goes there aswell so know it was a brilliant school.
But the nurse there annoys me so much.One time becayse my Dd is so clumsy her friend knocked a soldering irononto by accident and she got a burn and a blister.The teacher was very helpfull apparently but it got worse so she got sent to the nurse.The nurse told her off for being silly and then told she couldn't do anything or give her a plaster as it needed to breath.

Then a few days ago my Dd was fine in the morning and went to schoo, but said she felt really cold in 1st period.then it second period and 3rd period she had a absolutely horrible migraine so she couldn't do any work at all.she went to eat lunch with her friends but didn't eat at all and her friends told her to go the nurse because she was so ghastly pale and normally is very tanned and rosy cheeks.the nurse told her she'll be fine and go back to lesson.

Now she is stuck on the sofa sleeping because still has migraines and sore throat,runny nose,no energy and a fever of 103 degrees that creeps up to 104 fare height.im going to take her to the hospital later but I know she dreads them.

She's also told me that her friend had felt so ill they cried and they stil couldn't go ho,e but I'm sure this an exaggeration.
I know his is an terribly long rant so Thankyou if you actually read this.

I work in a school. Our "school nurse" is the receptionist... She's done a first aid course. She's a miserable old cow and she is so stingy with the plasters you'd think they were coming out of her wages.

Phone the doctor, Lily! Why wait? I have found my GP responds quickly to a child being ill.

My DD gets migraines and you need to get this diagnosed by a GP and there is Junior Immigran that may help. They can prescribe that and it can work very well when you know when to take it. My DD started to get migraines at 9 and still gets them occasionally at 21. It appears to be stress induced now she is older but when she was younger it was lights from car headlights, artificial lighting in rooms etc. Schools, in my experience, have always monitored my DDs temperature and phoned me to collect her, especially when she had a migraine.

If you are not happy with the care your DD is receiving at school, then speak to the management of the school. They have a duty to record all illnesses and minor accidents, as well as major ones. They also have a duty of care towards your daughter and they do not appear to be taking that seriously.

Wow, the nurses at the school I work at are lovely, overkill rather than under kill.
They seem wonderful at my son's school too. He also suffers badly from migraines.

I'd like to know how schools get a nurse who is on premises and available ? Who is funding this ?
School nurses here have dozens of schools to their name, plus clinics to run, plus vaccination programmes to deal with, plus spend a whole lot of time at Child Protection Conferences. I've never come across a school that has someone sitting on the premises
