We are lucky to have been offered a place but DS, who was keen, is now getting cold feet as no one else from his school is going. Does anyone with boys there have any insight on how easy it is to settle in if you don't have any familiar faces from primary and also if the boys manage to meet up at weekends without too much bother given they come from all over London (we are Richmond way)? Many thanks

Hi Buggybored - Our DS has also been offered a place at CV (we honestly didn't think we had the faintest chance) and its only just settling in now. We are the only family in our school who got in and are one of the few to even know about the school. No one else from our Parish has ever attended the school so its a bit of a shot in the dark here too. Given its a Pan London entry school - its likely that many boys will be in a similar predicament.

Aside - as per other posts here and on other forums - its clear that relationships from primary are oft left behind in any event upon the move to secondary. Even if primary we rarely met friends at the weekend except at church!

i'm sure it will be fine. Ultimately, very few get the opportunity to attend CVMS; its an amazing school and not an opportunity to be turned down! All the boys we saw on the open day seemed really friendly, nice and down to earth so its likely he'd make friends with other boys soon.

Hi aeganblue buggybored, Trixus.....i know this is an old post but wanted to connect as we're applying this year with CVMS as our first choice. However, no one in our parish had attended or even heard of the school (we live Wimbledon/Epsom way), and given we are unable to visit the school physically to get a feel of the school, looking to hook up with parents who have been through similar.
On paper, love everything I have been able to look up on the school.....but keen to get practical views on the commute, station to school walk, friendships and general settling in given the lack of familiar faces.

Thank you in advance for any insights you feel able to share x
