My dd went through the 11+ this January and has offers from two of our top choices - LEH and G&L. We love both schools and live in SWLondon so can get to both (although LEH is easier because we are on the school bus route, whereas would have to rely on public transport for G&L). Dd is very academic but enjoys sport, drama etc. Would be grateful for feedback in terms of academic strength/culture and ethos/ etc for each for these schools. Thanks!!

Choose the one with the easiest journey

Do you know anyone with a dd currently at either school? I'd ask them their thoughts on 'life on the inside', to hear their experiences of the school.

They are both excellent schools so I'd definitely choose the one with the easiest journey.
My dd is at LEH and is thriving and whilst the school is very strong academically, there is so much else going on. Sport in the early years is surprising inclusive - the clubs are varied and make excellent use of the extensive facilities. Music is hugely valued and there are endless groups and ensembles to suit whatever the instrument and level. Drama is also exceptional and plentiful. The new head really makes an effort to get to know all the pupils and it is very clear that the girls' well being and personal development is central to the schools ethos. We are delighted with LEH.

Those schools will in all likelihood result in quite a different geographical social life. I have/had children at LEH and another Hammersmith school. The LEH social life tended to be more Hampton/Richmond/Kingston based, whereas the Hammersmith schools attract a much more London-centric cohort- so Westfield/Notting Hill/South Ken based social life. Just a thought!
