GCSE advice OCR Gateway B

I am trying to find out for my daughter who is doing her GCSE exams in 2016. She is studying for the OCR Gateway in Physics / Chemistry and Biology.
What I would like to know is the significance of the exams being Gateway B?
I ask as the school don't seem to know (or want me to know) and we have bought all the study guides from them which don't mention B and I now see some guides do specify B and one of her teachers said the guide should state this?

No difference at all practically. All exam boards offer more than one specification in most subjects - to appeal to as many schools as possible! Still lead to the same qualification.

The current A*-G GCSE OCR Gateway science B is the linear version and was first taught in 2012. Provided that the revision guides are suitable for linear GCSE they will be OK.
They are now using Gateway A for the new 9-1 GCSEs which will be examined from 2018. (They may also have used Gateway A for the old modular GCSEs as well).
