Changing school for 6th Form

Ok, I think I might be worried over nothing but my DS has decided at the last minute that he wants to leave Trinity and is deciding between Wilsons/Wallington.

He says he just wants a change and it would be a new challenge, make new friends. Anyone have any opinions on their 6th forms? I know they are highly rated schools but I don't anything much about them. He is planning to do Maths, Physics, Biology and Chemistry.

Any info would be appreciated.

Are you talking about this September? If so, surely the places are settled and taken. If next year, then you have to apply to the schools.

Thanks for your reply.

It's for this September, he applied to Whitgift/Wallington/Wilson 6th form to keep his options open. They have all offered him a place after he received his results.

I just think he should stay where he is, but maybe that is my own hang up as I don't like change ????. He says he thinks he will be pushed more there. He is going to maths, physics, biology and chemistry.

I just don't know much about Wallington and wondered if there were any MNers who had experience of their 6th form.

I honestly do not know the schools but I think I would have had a good look round the science labs, talked to the teachers and analysed the results and destinations of similar students at the schools and made a decision based on that. Also, if he has a career/ university course in mind, which school is most likely to deliver this goal?

I tend to think that he may know that his current school may not deliver the goods for him. I let one of my DDs change school for 6th form because the school she was at didn't take her subjects very seriously. It was the best decision we ever made. If he wants to widen his friendship group and is up for a change, let him do it. What school does he have a preference for?

He is going a few days before the term starts with some of the other new boys. We will make up our minds then, as we have not given notice to his school that he will not be returning.
