Any textbooks recommended for girls going up to LEH this year?

My daughter is going up to Yr7 LEH this September from a state primary school and we don't know how to get her ready. Is there any textbooks / worksheets she can do to get herself ready?

What do you want to get her ready for Grace? She's got into a great school from her efforts last Jan, I am sure she will cope with Y7 brilliantly as they will make all the girls feel welcome, wherever they've come from?

I meant to add let her enjoy the summer holidays...it's one of the few times where they can seriously enjoy down time in between schools with no pressure or expectations after a tough year of entrance exams (if going for indies) and SATs etc

Grace: I agree 100% with Ealingwest: Let her enjoy the summer, be proud of her for getting into an elite school, and have faith in her doing OK when she gets there. I would let her loose in the bookshop and let her choose a stack of exciting books (fiction) to enjoy during the holidays. Relax, don't stress her out, 11+ is over now and secondary school is a marathon where a positive attitude and effort are more important than being quick out of the blocks.

I understand Grace. We have no french either and science was delivered as integrated curriculum (which I actually think was fab) but I believe these schools are fully aware of the range of children's exposure to specialist subjects (or lack of) and bring them up to standard over Y7.

As NW says, let her read, relax and enjoy play in whatever form does it for her. They will grow up change so quickly from Y7. Your DD was given a place on meritocracy, not sympathy so try not to allow her to feel inferior that she's come from a state primary. It's served her well with what sounds like great parental support .

And will serve LEH well too...

Year 7 is all about catching up and settling in wherever they go. The fact that she got in is enough. There will be lots coming from state primaries who are in the same boat. I seriously wouldn't do a thing. Just relax and enjoy the summer.

Congrats to your daughter.
As the mum of 2 girls there, can I reassure you that they are very aware their girls come from a wide range of schools (indie, state, home ed even) from the UK and abroad, and it is their job to get them all to the same level by the end of year 7 and they will do that job for you.
They start French from scratch, although as you would expect they go at it at a pace.

The message we always get from both junior and senior is read, read, read. If she is doing that, she will be ready to go .

Thinking of preparation, is she going to the LAX starters camp in late August? It provides a great social start for the girls who attend, with lots of new friendships formed before term even starts, so I would recommend it.

Thank you so much everyone.. She really enjoyed her summer relaxing a lot and doing things that she never actually had time to do like games, social medias and reading all the fiction books she wanted to.
