Bristol/Bath Uni Open Days

DD has booked onto Open Days at Bath and Bristol in June. She will be going by train.

Can anyone tell me if it is walkable to these units from the station, or whether you need to get a bus/taxi?

Thanks.

What distance would your dd consider to be walkable? Would say it's a good 20 minute walk to Bristol university from Temple Meads station, it's not particularly well signposted and there are some steep hills - so the bus would be a better bet. Your dd can take either the 8 or 9 bus directly from the station forecourt and the bus fare is approx £1 from there.

Thanks, Catslife. She would happily walk 20 mins, and would be able to use her phone as a map, although I am worried about timings! Thanks for letting me know the bus numbers though - much appreciated!

Bath Uni is quite a long walk up a steep hill from the station.

However, just in front of the station is the bus station and there are loads of busses up to the uni. I would definitely be catching the bus.

Thanks Leeds2 if you pm me, I can give directions for best walking route. Regularly go along that way by bike, so it is possible.

When we did an open day at Bristol a couple of years ago, the university laid on buses from the station. It was very well organised, (though our bus did have a lot of loud yah-braying girls on if so I was pleased it was only a short journey)

Hi. I went to Bristol last year with dd. loads of free buses laid on by uni at temple meads. Well directed- loads of students in t shirts showing the way. Over 30000 in two days! But excellent. If she wants to go to see the halls at stoke bishop there are free shuttle buses from the uni. They got really busy later on in the day. Hope she enjoys it!!

Do the buses take them back to the station too?

get the bus from the station in Bath, the hill is a killer unless you're used to it.
